Peter Obi reveals he’s unwell, shares doctor’s advice

Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has disclosed that he will be stepping away from public events for a few days after being advised by his doctor to rest.

Obi shared the update on Saturday, explaining that he had not been feeling well while attending a tourism event in Enugu.

According to him, medical checks led to a prescription for medication and a recommendation to take one or two days off his busy schedule.

He explained that the decision means he will not be able to meet some of his engagements within and outside Nigeria this weekend.

He appealed to his supporters and associates for understanding while assuring them of his commitment to return to activities after his recovery.

He wrote:

“Earlier in Enugu, I was not feeling well. I visited the hospital where the doctor gave me some medication and advised me to take a day or two days rest.

“In obedience to the doctor’s advice, I will not be able to meet up with all my scheduled engagements within and outside the country this weekend.

“I sincerely apologise for any inconveniences this might cause and humbly plead for understanding.”

Before his health update, Obi had attended a programme in Enugu, then travelled to Good Hope Specialist Hospital in Isulo, Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State.

There, he made a ₦10 million donation to support the Aguata Diocese of the Church of Nigeria in acquiring and reviving the facility.

The former governor said that the project is aimed at transforming the hospital into a full health complex that will also host a School of Nursing, Midwifery, and Health Technology.

From Anambra, Obi later moved to Owerri in Imo State, where he joined a dinner organised in honour of former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai.
