Jones, 27, is in his ninth season at Old Trafford having arrived from Blackburn in 2011.

The defender made his first appearance of the campaign at Sheffield United on Sunday, but was dragged off at the break after a woeful first half.

jones was handed a four-year deal in February meaning he could request a testimonial, once his decade is up.

however, Jones rejected the opportunity once the proposal was made.

Jones is claimed to have said, when asked about a testimonial:

“Apart from my mum and dad, who else would turn up?”
