The Nasarawa State Police Command has dismissed reports claiming that two pupils of St. Peter’s Academy, Rukubi, in Doma Local Government Area, were abducted on Thursday.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, the Command described the viral reports circulating on social media and some news platforms as “false and not reflective of the true state of affairs.”
Recall Dockaysworld reported the kidnapping of students in Niger State earlier today, which is one of a number of attacks by terrorists in recent times, which has heightened alertness among Nigerians.
According to the police, the rumour began around 10:00 am on November 21, 2025, after an unverified report claimed that two pupils were kidnapped while participating in sporting activities on the school field.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, immediately deployed a joint team of police officers and military personnel to the school in response.
Upon arrival, operatives discovered that the pupils had fled after sighting hunters carrying Dane guns, mistaking them for kidnappers. “Normalcy was immediately restored,” the statement noted, adding that the area was thoroughly combed for safety.
The school proprietor also confirmed to security operatives that the alarm raised was false.
The Police Command urged the public to disregard the “mere rumour,” warning journalists and media outlets to verify information before publication to avoid misleading the public.
The area continues to be closely monitored, the statement added.
