The Chairman of Gumel Local Government Council in Jigawa State, Hon. Lawal Ya’u, has passed away at the age of 61.
He died on Saturday afternoon at a private hospital in Kano after a brief illness.
A family source confirmed the news, stating that the late chairman is survived by two wives and several children.

His remains were laid to rest the same evening in his hometown, Gumel, according to Islamic rites.
