Nigerian Governor Suspends 25 Commissioners, Others


Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru has suspended 25 commissioners as well as 22 permanent secretaries, and 38 aides for failing to attend a state function.

Dockaysworld reports that the decision was announced in a statement released Monday night by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Dr Monday Uzor.

According to the statement, the suspension takes immediate effect and applies to all affected individuals without exception.

Among those hit by the suspension are Works Commissioner Stanley Mbam, Finance Commissioner Prof Leonard Uguru, Lands and Survey Commissioner Dr Mathew Nwobashi, Environment Commissioner Victor Chukwu, and Information Commissioner Chief Ikeuwa Omebe.

Also suspended are key permanent secretaries including Dr Lawrence Ezeogo, Dr Isioma Arunne-Inyang, Mrs Rose Ibe, Mrs Ogechi Nwobashi, Mrs Theresa Anwu, and Dr Lynda Alo.

The crackdown extends to 14 Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) such as Mrs Bessy Chukwu, Mrs Rose Ofoke, Mr Kieran Ofoke, and Chief Anthony Nwegede, as well as 24 Special Assistants (SAs) including Emmanuel Mbam, Tobias Ogbonna, Easy Okike-Uzor, Obinna Oko-Enyim, Chima Okoro, Amaechi Nwali, Henry Nwele, Isaac Ogodo-Ali, and Godwin Nwoba.
