Honourable Aminu Dan Hamidu, the recently elected Chairman of Bakori Local Government Area in Katsina State, has died just weeks after officially beginning his role.
He assumed office in April 2025 following his election in February, but sadly passed away on Monday, June 9, 2025.
Although the exact cause of his death has not been confirmed, there are unverified reports that he had been unwell for some time.
His death was confirmed by Kaula Mohammed, Chief Press Secretary to Katsina State Governor Dikko Umaru Radda.
In a statement, the governor expressed his deep sorrow, describing Hamidu as a dedicated civil servant and politician who served with honesty, humility, and commitment to his community.
Governor Radda praised Hamidu’s short tenure, adding that even in such a brief time, he demonstrated strong leadership rooted in sincerity and a deep concern for the welfare of his people.
He said Hamidu’s service at various levels of government was always marked by integrity and hard work.
Despite not seeking attention, Hamidu allowed his actions to speak for him.
On behalf of the state government and the people of Katsina, Governor Radda extended condolences to Hamidu’s family, the residents of Bakori, and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) across the state.
He offered prayers, asking Almighty Allah to forgive Hamidu’s shortcomings and grant him eternal peace in Aljannatul Firdausi.
