Popular Nollywood actress Ajara Lasisi, popularly known as Aunty Ajara, has died after a prolonged battle with illness.
Her death was confirmed by her brother in a statement shared on Thursday and seen by Dockaysworld.
“With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved actress, Aunty Ajara. She passed on overnight after a long and courageous battle with illness,” the statement read.
The family expressed gratitude to Nigerians and supporters across the world for the prayers, financial support, and goodwill shown to the actress during her illness, while urging the public to stop sending money to the previously shared account.
In the weeks leading to her death, Aunty Ajara’s condition drew public attention after several Nollywood actors appealed for financial assistance to support her medical treatment.
The actress, who was battling a liver-related illness, appeared in a viral video from her hospital bed pleading for help, prompting donations and prayers from colleagues and members of the public before her eventual passing.
