President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has broken his silence following a courtesy visit by Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo to the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Tuesday, Dockaysworld reports.
In a statement shared on his official social media pages, Tinubu described Soludo as “a friend of over two decades” and said their discussions centred on sustaining democratic reforms, boosting economic growth, and enhancing national security.
“We discussed the bold reforms underway, the need to stay the course, and the importance of tackling insecurity through decisive action and inclusive opportunities for our youth,” the President said. “Our administration will continue to partner with every state committed to human, social, and economic development because Nigeria’s progress is strongest when we work together.”
Earlier, Soludo, who seeks re-election in November on the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) ticket, publicly defended his endorsement of Tinubu’s policies and his support for the President’s 2027 bid. Wearing a fez cap emblazoned with Tinubu’s broken-chain logo, the governor told reporters he had “no apologies” for the alliance.
“President Tinubu has been my friend for 20 years. You don’t deny your friend,” Soludo said. “I support him and commend the bold steps he has taken in economic and structural reforms. We only need to stay the course.”
Tinubu, facing an expected tough contest in 2027, has intensified consultations with political figures. In recent months, he has secured defections of several southern governors to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), with many publicly endorsing his re-election campaign.
