The price for the larger 12.5kg cylinder went up by nearly 10%, from about N18,456 in March to over N20,268 in April.

Looking at the yearly change, prices increased sharply over the last twelve months.

The 5kg cylinder refill cost more than 20% higher than in April 2024, while the 12.5kg cylinder rose close to 30% in the same period.

This continuous rise presents difficulties for many Nigerian families relying on liquefied petroleum gas for cooking.

The report also showed differences in prices across regions.

Rivers State had the highest average price for refilling a 5kg cylinder at just over N9,100, with Ebonyi and Akwa Ibom states also showing high costs.

In contrast, Niger, Plateau, and Kebbi states offered the lowest prices, slightly above N7,000.

When grouped by zones, the South-South region had the highest average prices, while the North-Central zone recorded the lowest.

For the larger 12.5kg cylinder, Imo State had the highest average price nearing N23,000, followed by Delta and Rivers states.

Kebbi, Nasarawa, and Kwara states had some of the lowest prices around N18,000. Zonally, the South-South and South-East regions experienced the highest costs, while the North-Central zone had the cheapest prices.
