The National Bureau of Statistics has revealed that the cost of Liquefied Petroleum Gas, commonly called cooking gas, reduced in July 2025 compared to the previous month.
The average price for refilling a 12.5-kilogram cylinder fell to N20,609.48 in July from N21,010.56 in June, showing a month-on-month drop of 1.19 percent.
The data also revealed that while the price reduced when compared with the previous month, it was still higher than what consumers paid a year earlier.
On a year-on-year basis, the price of 12.5 kg of cooking gas rose by 44.51 percent from N14,261.57 recorded in July 2024.
According to the report, Imo, Delta, and Rivers states had the highest prices during the review period, while Kebbi, Nasarawa, and Kwara recorded the lowest.
In Abuja and surrounding areas, the cost of 12.5 kg of cooking gas stood at about N15,000 as of September 1, 2025.
