A contingent of Nigerian citizens under the the aegis of the Coalition of Civil Society Organization and Youth Groups have staged a state wide protest in Lagos state against alleged hoarding of the new naira notes by some banks.

The aggrieved Nigerians decried the hardship being experienced across the country with multiple reports that banks were allegedly complicit in depriving them of the notes of letting them go for bribes.

Speaking at the demonstration, the President of the coalition, Bassey Etuk Williams revealed that letters had been sent to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and other anti-graft agencies about the matter.

He called on the banks to follow the CBN directive and alleviate the suffering of Nigerians.
