Quique Sanchez Flores will depart Watford for the second time in his career just 12 games into his return following his side’s defeat to Southampton.

Flores replaced Javi Gracia in the Vicarage Road dugout in September but only managed two victories, with only one coming in the Premier League.

The Hornets are rock bottom of the Premier League, six points adrift of safety, with Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to fellow strugglers Southampton appearing to have proved the final straw for Flores.

Watford had taken the lead through Ismaila Sarr but fell apart in the last 12 minutes at St Mary’s

Danny Ings controversially equalised in the 78th minute before James Ward-Prowse curled in an inch-perfect free kick.

Reports additionally understands that some players have lost faith in the manager’s ability to turn Watford’s form around which has not been helped by his decision not to bring on captain Troy Deeney at Southampton on Saturday, but to bring on Andre Gray instead.

An official Announcement from the Club is expected in the coming hours
