Reports: Iwobi boss faces sack after Liverpool trashing and “could even go Today”

Everton are reportedly set to make a decision on Marco Silva’s future on Thursday, with David Moyes and Tim Cahill standing by to return to the club.

Silva is widely expected to be sacked as Everton boss after his side’s 5-2 defeat to Liverpool left them in the Premier League’s relegation zone.

It was Everton’s ninth defeat in their first 15 games of the Premier League season, as they continued their 20-year search for a league win at Anfield.

The defeat also saw the Blues ship five against their rivals for the first time since 1982.

After the game, Silva was scathing, branding his side’s display “not good enough, not brave enough”.

Wednesday’s game was Silva’s 59th as Everton manager, having won 24 and lost 23 of those matches.
