Scores injured after bomb attacks in Maiduguri


Scores of people were injured after a double bomb attack hit Maiduguri on Monday evening, targeting the Monday Market and the gate of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH).

The explosions occurred shortly after iftar at about 7:20 p.m., causing panic in the area.

The spokesperson of the Borno State Police Command, Nahum Kenneth Daso, confirmed the incident in a post on his X handle.

According to the statement: “Following reports of a suspected explosion at Maiduguri Monday Market and UMTH gate at about 7:20 PM, joint security operatives and emergency responders have been deployed. The Police EOD Unit, Base 13 Maiduguri, is on the ground.
