The protests which held in Ekpoma, Edo state on Saturday turned tragic after soldiers reportedly shot at protesters, with one confirmed dead.
Dockaysworld gathered that the soldiers had come in after initial protests devolved into cattle rustling and attacks between herders and youths.
The youths had been protesting incessant kidnappings in the region of residents.
Eyewitnesses narrated how the soldiers had opened fire as they shared video evidence, seen by Dockaysworld, to corroborate their accounts.
Recall Dockaysworld reported a recent incident wherein two brothers were kidnapped. Both doctors, the younger brother was killed while the latter remains in captivity.
Numerous cases have seen kidnappings with ransom demands going upwards of a hundred million naira per person.
The youths who trooped out in numbers called on the government to restore order and deliver justice for victims and deterrence for potential offenders.
