The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta Central has thrown its full support behind President Bola Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as their preferred candidates for the 2027 presidential and governorship elections.
The declaration was made during a major party gathering in Ughelli on Sunday, bringing together key political figures from across the region.
The endorsement was proposed by Francis Waive, a federal lawmaker, who praised Tinubu’s economic reforms and Oborevwori’s steady leadership.
The motion was quickly seconded by former lawmaker Halims Agoda and unanimously approved by the attendees.
Senator Ede Dafinone, who represents Delta Central, formally put the motion to a voice vote, sealing the endorsement.
A vote of confidence was also passed in support of both leaders.
Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, described the meeting as a significant step towards strengthening the APC in Delta.
He hailed Tinubu as the most capable economic manager in recent Nigerian history and said his Renewed Hope Agenda aligns well with Governor Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda.
Keyamo added that this wasn’t just a regular political meeting, calling it a “foundational moment” for the APC’s resurgence in Delta State.
He expressed confidence that, for the first time since 1999, the Urhobo people are united and ready to deliver full support to the party.
Plans are underway to replicate such unity meetings across all local governments in Delta Central to further strengthen the APC’s presence at grassroots levels.
Delta APC Chairman, Elder Omeni Sobotie, appreciated the turnout and praised both Oborevwori and Keyamo for promoting unity.
Meanwhile, Chief Paulinus Akpeki, chairman of the party in Delta Central, commended the governor’s decision to align strategically with the APC, calling it a move that has reshaped the state’s political future.
Other notable figures present at the event included former APC governorship candidate O’tega Emerhor, Chief Stella Okotete of NEXIM Bank, the Governor’s Chief Adviser Ighoyota Amori, and Ughelli North Chairman Chief Jaro Egbo.
