State governor suspends 25 commissioners

Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru has ordered the suspension of 87 government officials after they failed to show up at an official state function held recently.

The suspended officials include 25 commissioners, 14 senior special assistants, 24 special assistants, and 22 permanent secretaries.

According to a statement released by the governor’s spokesperson on Monday night, the suspension takes effect immediately.

The affected officials have been placed on a one-month working suspension without pay.

During this period, they are not allowed to sign any official documents or perform duties related to their offices.

The commissioners involved have been asked to hand over to their respective permanent secretaries.

The decision to suspend the officials was taken after their absence at the state function was noticed.

Governor Nwifuru reportedly viewed their non-attendance as an act of negligence and a breach of responsibility.

Almost all the commissioners failed to attend the ceremony. A big slap on the administration. The govt is loosing the people’s support since Dave Umahi started endorsement of PBAT
