Thunder kills 23 cows in ekiti state

No less than 23 cows have been confirmed dead in Ekiti State following a high magnitude thunder and heaving rainfall downpour which has rocked some part of the state in the last couple of days s

The incident reportedly occurred at Okeowa Eluju, a farmstead in Iloro-Ekiti, Ijero Local Government Area of the state, after a deafening thunder eneded the lives of about 23 cows belonging to one Mr Abdulkadri Kadiri, throwing residence of the area into a state of apprehension.

While confirming sad incident, mr kadiri said he was devastated by the development, describing it as a strange occurence, NAN reported.

“I went to farm after about six hours heavy downpour on Monday morning, only to discover that 23 of my cows had died. After careful observation, I found that there was no trace of bodily injuries on the dead cows. I want to believe it is an act of God since I did not offend or quarrel with anyone,” he said.

Mr Kadiri also added that he had never experienced such incident in his 35 years of business.

The head of the community, Joseph Alofe, who also confirmed the incident, described the victim as a gentle and peace loving herder, calling on the governnent and well meaning individuals to help revive kadiri’s business.
