President Bola Tinubu has appointed seven governors to serve in the National Steering Committee of the Renewed Hope Ward Development Programme.
The initiative is designed to boost economic growth, improve living standards, and strengthen social protection across Nigeria’s 8,809 wards.
It focuses on bringing development closer to the people through coordinated activities at the grassroots level.
According to a statement from the Nigeria Governors’ Forum Secretariat, Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, will serve as chairman of the committee.
The Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, will serve as Vice Chairman of the committee.
Other governors appointed to represent the six geopolitical zones are Mai Mala Buni of Yobe (North-East), Douye Diri of Bayelsa (South-South), Dapo Abiodun of Ogun (South-West), Peter Mbah of Enugu (South-East), Dikko Umar Radda of Katsina (North-West), and Hyacinth Alia of Benue (North-Central).
The committee held its inaugural meeting on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at the Nigeria Governors’ Forum Secretariat in Abuja, chaired by AbdulRazaq.
The meeting focused on setting up frameworks for implementing Tinubu’s ward-based development plan across the country.
