President Bola Tinubu, in his 65th Independence Day broadcast on Wednesday, pledged a series of commitments to improve the lives of Nigerians and strengthening the nation’s future.
The President assured that his administration will continue to channel savings from fuel subsidy removal into key areas such as education, healthcare, agriculture, power, roads, broadband, and social programmes to raise the quality of life for citizens.
He promised to repair and build critical infrastructure, including schools, hospitals, seaports, airports, railroads, and electricity supply for industries and homes.
He also pledged to boost agricultural production to ensure food security and bring down food prices.
On security, Tinubu vowed to continue supporting the armed forces and security agencies in the fight against terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping, stressing that peace must be restored in all communities.
Addressing the nation’s youth, he highlighted ongoing schemes such as NELFUND student loans, Credicorp, YouthCred, and the iDICE programme, promising that his administration will continue to provide opportunities for education, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
Tinubu further called for a self-reliant Nigeria, urging citizens to embrace farming, manufacturing, and patronage of Made-in-Nigeria goods.
He assured that electricity generation would be improved, while resources saved will be directed to food, education, security, and reliable power supply rather than abstract statistics.
The President concluded with a commitment to deliver a new, prosperous, and self-reliant Nigeria, declaring that the “dawn of a new Nigeria is here.”
