Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu, has declared his interest in running for governor of Oyo State in 2027.
He made this known during separate meetings with leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress in Ogbomoso and Oyo town on Friday.
Adelabu said the visit was part of his consultations across zones in the state to prepare for the upcoming election.
He told party members in Ogbomoso that he is ready to contest and willing to face internal competition within the APC.
He also assured stakeholders that no candidate would be forced on the party ahead of the polls.
While addressing the gathering, he asked aggrieved members to forgive past issues and focus on how to return the party to power in 2027.
Adelabu added that he is ready to apply lessons from previous elections and that he believes the time is right for him to lead the state.
He described Ogbomoso as an important part of the state’s political structure and called for unity among factions.
He also appealed for support from the Oyo zone, where he promised to run an inclusive government if elected.
Adelabu urged people in the zone to support President Bola Tinubu’s second term bid, saying the Yoruba region has another chance to serve a full tenure in the presidency.
He explained that Oyo holds a special place in his political journey and promised to treat the zone fairly if he becomes governor.
His supporters, including Ayoade Adeseun and Olamijuwonlo Alao-Akala, encouraged party members to work together and ensure the APC returns to power in the state.
You didn’t perform as a minister now you want to govern the state .. what a shame. Only imposition of huge tariffs on the poor masses is your achievement.
