Tinubu’s minister locked out of office
Workers of the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs on Wednesday, September 10, locked out Minister Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim of her office in Abuja.
They accused her of neglect and failure to address their welfare concerns.
The staff, who gathered in large numbers, blocked the entrance gates of the Ministry in the Central Area, chanting songs and demanding her removal.
The workers said they had made repeated efforts to engage the Minister since her deployment to the Ministry in October last year but received no response.
They explained that a meeting was finally scheduled for Wednesday, but after keeping them waiting for hours, the Minister ignored both staff and union members upon arrival and went straight to her office.
Union leaders alleged that the Ministry had no basic work tools, proper welfare, or training support.
They claimed that staff often used personal funds to buy stationery and clean offices, as cleaners were no longer available.
They also accused the Minister and her aides of using funds meant for staff welfare without accountability.
Reports indicated that even the Permanent Secretary had tried to draw the Minister’s attention to these issues without success.
As of the time of reporting, the Ministry gates remained locked, and the Minister had yet to respond to the allegations or address the protesting workers.
