A group of Federal Housing Authority (FHA) staff have formally petitioned President Bola Tinubu, the EFCC Chairman, and the Minister of Housing, demanding a full investigation into the actions of its Managing Director, Oyetunde Ojo, who is married to the President’s daughter.
The petition accuses Ojo of turning the FHA into a personal empire under his leadership since his February 2024 appointment.
The staff claim that Ojo has abused his position by awarding questionable contracts, buying properties under dubious circumstances, claiming kickbacks through land deals, overspending on hotels, and manipulating land records.
They also allege he brags about being “untouchable,” leveraging his relationship with President Tinubu, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, and ex‑Speaker Aminu Tambuwal to suppress oversight.
Staff report that he packs key FHA departments with his ethnic group, restricts access to records, and creates opportunities for land grabbing and extortion.
They recount an incident where an employee was allegedly detained and tortured over a missing $50,000 bribe.
Ojo is also accused of arriving late to work in the afternoon, hoarding files in closed boardrooms, and living a lavish lifestyle all of which have, in the workers’ view, crippled the agency’s effectiveness.
The employees stress that the FHA is a public asset, not a private political tool, and warn that Ojo may be using it to build a political base for a potential gubernatorial run in Ekiti State.
They demand that the President, EFCC, and Minister intervene immediately to restore transparency, accountability, and proper institutional control at the FHA.
