English football club Manchester City, reportedly have “belief” there is a chance of sealing a remarkable Lionel Messi move in the summer.
Messi’s future at Barcelona has been thrown into doubt after he publicly criticised sporting director Eric Abidal over comments made regarding the role of the dressing room in Ernesto Valverde’s sacking.
According to reports, Manchester City have been waiting for over a decade for an opportunity to land Messi, staying in
close contact with his father, Jorge, and recognise this could be their last opportunity.
It is claimed Messi personally called Guardiola ahead of his first season with City to declare his desire to play for him again, but after preparing their finances for a move the club were unable to land the Argentinian.
Whilst they recognise Messi is most likely to stay at the Nou, Camp they do have belief they could bring him to the
Premier League as they prepare to launch one last assault.
Messi this week accused Abidal of “throwing dirt at everyone and starting rumours that aren’t true” after he claimed several players had stopped playing for Valverde before his sacking.
