Top Ortom’s Ally Quits PDP


David Olofu, who served as Benue State’s Commissioner for Finance and Budget from 2015 to 2023 under former Governor Samuel Ortom, officially resigned from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) effective June 30, 2025.

In a resignation letter addressed to the ward chairman in Apa Local Government Area which he released to the media in Makurdi Olofu stated that his departure is necessary to fully exercise his constitutional right to freedom of association, in the best interests of his local ward, the Benue South Senatorial District, and the entire state.

Olofu’s political résumé includes serving as chairman of the Forum of State Commissioners for Finance (2019–2023) and acting as Senior Technical Adviser to the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (2023–2024).

He also now leads a newly formed coalition in Apa LGA.
