Tunisia’s President, Beji Caid Essebsi has died at the old age of 92 as confirmed by the Presidency recently. Essebsi died after being taken to a military hospital on Wednesday.
He was an influential statesmen during the country’s transition to democracy in 2011 following the ousting of dictator Zine El Abidine Ben Ali.
This was followed by uprisings against authoritarian leaders across the Middle East, including Libya and Egypt. He was the world’s oldest sitting president.
