The country of Turkey has sparked controversy after its MPs began considering a ‘marry your rapist’ law.
According to the proposed law, men who rape girls under 18 years old of age could potentially avoid punishment as long as they marry their victims.
Critics say the proposed law legitimises statutory rape, child marriage and allows child abuse and sexual exploitation to become rife.
