Two LG Chairmen Die Within 24 Hours
The people of Sokoto and Bauchi states have been thrown into mourning as two local government chairmen died within 24 hours.
In Sokoto State, the Chairman of Kebbe Local Government Area, Abdullahi Yarima, passed away on Friday at the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital after a long illness.
He was laid to rest in Bado after the Jumu’at prayers, in line with Islamic rites.
Yarima, who left behind his wife, children, and grandchildren, was known for his role in grassroots leadership and community service.
Barely a day later, Bauchi State lost another council leader, Yakubu Garba Tela, the Chairman of Dambam Local Government.
He died after a brief illness, with funeral prayers scheduled at Misau Central Mosque.
His passing has been described as a loss to the people of Dambam, where he was regarded as a devoted leader and mobiliser for community development.
The two deaths have created shock and grief across both states, with residents and political associates mourning the sudden departure of the chairmen.
