Two commissioners in Enugu State have resigned from their positions.
Adaora Chukwu, who served as Commissioner for Trade, Commerce and Investment, resigned from her position on Thursday.
She shared the news on social media without giving any reason, but sources revealed that she was asked to step down a day earlier.
Chukwu is the daughter of former Enugu State Governor, Sullivan Chime, who governed under the PDP from 2007 to 2015 but is now a member of the APC.
Despite their different party affiliations, he is known to have a cordial relationship with Governor Mbah.
The second resignation came from Aka Eze, the former Commissioner for Information, who left his role to contest in the Udenu Local Government election, which he later won.
Following the exits, Governor Mbah nominated six new individuals for commissioner roles: Osita Okoh, Ben Collins Ndu Jr., Samuel Ogbu-Nwobodo, Franklin Ogbonna, and two professors – Benedeth Okoli and George Ugwu.
Their specific portfolios were not disclosed.
In addition to the commissioner nominations, Mbah also approved the appointment of Godwin Anigbo as the new Head of Service in the state.
His appointment takes immediate effect.
