Uche Jumbo starts discussion on access to internet by children, celebs react

Popular Nigerian actress, Uche Jumbo has gone on instagram to start a conversation about the proper age for children to access the internet due to the disadvantages that come with it. 

The actress admitted that technology was the future and that it was important for children to be skilled with the digital tools but she worried that there were also dangers associated with the internet. 

Uche said that some of the sites could even be tricked by children by putting in wrong ages to gain access. She asked what age was appropriate for a child to be given unsupervised 

Celebrities like Kate Henshaw and Yvonne Jegede responded to the post. Both suggested that 18 years old was a reasonable age to allow unrestricted access.

”Technology is the future,I know the importance of making sure our children are highly skilled in this digital age but the harsh reality is ….unless you are going to supervise your child’s online activities they are not safe…the true danger lurking in the burgeoning number of children’s internet chat rooms ( social media / gaming chat rooms)

I know most of these apps say 13years and above (which kids can lie about to create profile) (Today is such an eye opener for me)

Story for another day. Can we please discuss the right age for our kids to get on internet (social media and gaming chat rooms) unsupervised.
