It said that those who had business or appointments with the Embassy should continue as scheduled.

The statement read:

“US Embassy Abuja and Consulate General Lagos remain open for all consular business, including visa interviews. Please attend your regularly scheduled interview.”

The US Government shutdown stemmed from the disagreement between the President, Donald Trump and the Legislature who do not see eye to eye about the funding of a wall to be built between Mexico and America.

The wall has been Trump’s plan since his campaign and has now requested the Legislature to provide $5 billion for its building when Mexico refused to pay for it.

The shutdown began on the 22nd if December and is expected to last a few weeks.
