Abia State Governor Alex Otti turned a brief power outage in Abuja into a moment of pride for his state, declaring during a graduation ceremony that his state had solved such problems in the city of Aba.
The incident happened while Otti was delivering a speech, and as soon as power was restored, he reminded the audience that constant electricity was no longer an issue in Aba. His remark drew applause before he continued his address.
The governor’s comment follows recent milestones in Abia’s electricity sector. In February, the long-awaited Geometric Power Plant in Aba was inaugurated by President Bola Tinubu, two decades after it was first initiated by former Minister of Power Barth Nnaji. Since then, residents have reported enjoying up to 48 hours of uninterrupted power, with excitement spilling onto social media.
