Why Air Peace Aircraft Could Not Land at Ekiti Airport

Air Peace has clarified why its aircraft, scheduled to pick up the airline’s chairman and CEO, Allen Onyema, and his team on Saturday evening, was unable to land at Ekiti Airport.

According to the airline, poor weather conditions, including heavy rain, forced the pilot to reroute the flight back to Lagos as a safety precaution.

In a statement, Ejike Ndiulo, Head of Corporate Communications at Air Peace, addressed reports claiming that Onyema was stranded at Ekiti State Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport for over 24 hours due to the airport’s lack of navigational aids.

Ndiulo dismissed these reports as false and misleading, describing them as an attempt to tarnish the airline’s reputation.

He further refuted claims that the pilot took a risky manoeuvre to leave Ekiti Airport, calling such allegations a fabrication that falsely implies a breach of aviation safety protocols.

Ndiulo disclosed  that Air Peace strictly adheres to international aviation safety standards.

He also clarified that flight diversions due to bad weather are common in global aviation and do not indicate any deficiencies on the part of the airport.
