Why first lady Remi Tinubu fell out with Governor Adeleke – Dele Momodu reveals

Media personality Dele Momodu has shed light on the strained relationship between First Lady Remi Tinubu and Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, following a viral video that showed the First Lady reprimanding the governor at a public event.

In the footage, the First Lady directed the governor to end his performance, telling him he had limited time left to conclude his remarks.

She later returned to insist that the microphone would be turned off if he did not stop the music, even as the governor continued singing.

The exchange drew widespread criticism, with many Nigerians describing the First Lady’s tone and handling of the situation as disrespectful.

Others, however, argued that the pair have long shared a playful rapport and that the interaction was being misinterpreted.

Momodu weighed in on the controversy, pointing to a breakdown in what was once a cordial and warm relationship between the two.

He recalled a period when they frequently appeared together in high spirits, often dancing and celebrating side by side.

He shared videos of the two dancing and singing together at previous events when they still had a friendly and cordial relationship.

He suggested that tensions emerged after Adeleke declined to align with the ruling All Progressives Congress, a decision he believes altered the political dynamics between them.

Momodu described the situation as reflective of a broader problem within Nigeria’s political landscape, where pressure for a single-party dominance continues to fuel unnecessary friction.

He also noted that political disagreements should not erase personal respect, emphasizing that power is temporary and that democracy thrives when diverse political choices are allowed to exist without hostility.
