Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi has given reasons for missing the burial of ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, which took place on Tuesday in Daura, Katsina State.
Obi, who arrived in Daura on Wednesday, said he was unable to attend the burial due to travel difficulties.
He explained that there was no available flight that could get him to the town on time for the funeral rites.
“It was difficult for me to get to Daura yesterday,” he said. “There was no flight. Anyone who comes even tomorrow is still part of the mourning.”
The former Anambra State governor joined other top politicians, including ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, who came to pay their respects during the Fidau prayers organised for Buhari on Wednesday.
They also visited the gravesite where the late president was buried and joined in offering prayers for his peaceful rest.
