Senator Ned Nwoko has explained the circumstances surrounding the arrest of Ms. Izuegbu Anthonet, aka Ann, a close friend of his estranged wife, Regina Daniels.
In a statement issued by his communication team and seen by Dockaysworld, the senator said Ann was arrested over allegations of criminal defamation, illegal activities, and threats made online against him and members of his family.
According to the statement, Ann allegedly made public claims accusing Senator Nwoko of physically assaulting his wife, Mrs. Laila Nwoko, and causing a miscarriage.
The senator described the allegations as “entirely false,” stressing that no such incident occurred and that the claims were made without evidence.
The statement further alleged that Ann is implicated in the procurement of an illegal abortion for actress Regina Daniels during her lawful marriage to the senator.
The communication team said the incident is already on record and had previously been referenced publicly, adding that the matter is under investigation by relevant authorities.
Recall that Regina Daniels had cried out over what she termed bullying by the senator, asking why he kept coming after her and her family.
Regina’s elder brother Sammy had previously been arrested after the senator’s petition but was later released following backslash and appeals.
The fresh statement also disclosed that a formal witness statement dated October 29, 2025, was submitted to the Area Commander of the Maitama Police Station, Abuja.
The statement reportedly details repeated activities involving Ann, including the alleged sourcing and administration of controlled and illegal substances, with law enforcement authorities said to be investigating identified suppliers and corroborating evidence.
The senator’s team added that Ann’s arrest followed a social media post in which she allegedly issued threats, made derogatory remarks, and repeated defamatory accusations against Senator Nwoko and Mrs. Laila Nwoko.
The post, they said, constituted criminal defamation and intimidation under applicable laws.
“This is not a social media dispute but a law-enforcement matter grounded in evidence, witness testimonies, and due process,” the statement read, dismissing claims that the arrest was an attempt at suppression or victimisation.
The statement read that Senator Nwoko and his family would respect the ongoing investigation and avoid engaging in what it described as “trial by social media,” while urging the public to rely on verified facts and allow the law to take its course.
