Tensions rose on Tuesday when the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, confronted military officers over land in Gaduwa, Abuja.
Dockaysworld reports that Wike and his team were blocked from accessing the land by soldiers who said they were acting under orders.
The minister challenged the soldiers’ actions, arguing that no legal document supports their claim to the land.
He told the officers that no one is above the law and that attempts to intimidate officials with weapons would not be accepted.
The military officers, however, insisted they were following directives from a former Chief of Naval Staff.
Wike criticized the situation, questioning why proper communication was not made to his office before the confrontation.
He described the use of military force in this context as unacceptable and stated he would not be swayed by intimidation.
Despite his objections, the soldiers remained firm on occupying the land, citing instructions from higher authorities.
