Wike speaks on rift with Tinubu
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has dismissed reports of a disagreement between him and President Bola Tinubu, saying there is no conflict between them.
Wike said rumours of a fallout surfaced after he missed the recent Council of State meeting, which approved the nomination of Professor Joash Amupitan as Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Some media outlets claimed he was unhappy because his preferred nominee, Justice Abdullahi Muhammad Limanwas not picked.
Speaking in Abuja during the commissioning of access roads in Dakibiyu District, the minister said his absence was due to official duties that were already scheduled, not any form of political misunderstanding.
He explained that the Minister of State for the FCT, Mariya Mahmoud, represented him at the meeting after he informed the President of his prior engagements.
Wike described the reports of a fight with Tinubu as false and aimed at creating tension.
He said he remains loyal to the President and fully supports his vision for the country.
The minister added that the ongoing projects and development in the FCT are a result of the President’s backing, assuring residents that more infrastructure works would be completed soon.
