Ex-Governor of Abia state and convicted fraudster Orji Uzor Kalu, has had his bail application denied by Justice Mohammed Liman of the federal high court.

This is coming while the Ex-Governor’s appeal against his conviction is still in the works.

According to the judge, Kalu’s application did not adequately prove his alleged deteriorating state of health.

Justice Liman said there was no evidence to prove the senator was suffering from chronic diseases Such as diabetes, and hypertension, and that they weren’t contagious.

The Judge added that Kalu being missed in the senate did not matter as the voters had known the possibility existed that he could be convicted before they voted him in.

Kalu had begun his 12 year jail term over his conviction for N7.1bn fraud and money laundering before his lawyers had attempted to secure him bail under the notion of his alleged ill health.
