According to a staff of the company, the armed men had barricaded the office since 7am reports TheCable.

One reporter who gained access into the building before the siege told said via telephone that:

“They are currently banging the gate asking those of us inside to come out right now.”

This is coming about 2 months after the publisher and founder of the news agency, Omoyele Sowore, was arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS), over his planned ‘Revolution is now’ nationwide protests.

The Sahara reporters staff claimed that the security operatives were now attempting to invade office due to a planned protest for the release of Sowore.

Meanwhile, policemen and soldiers have also laid siege to the office of the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) in Ikeja.
