The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has announced former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso as his running mate ahead of the 2027 general election.
Obi made the announcement on Saturday shortly after his confirmation as the NDC’s presidential candidate.
The development comes after the NDC formally adopted Obi as its flag bearer for the next presidential election.
Obi and Kwankwaso recently defected from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the NDC, citing internal divisions and ongoing legal disputes within their former party.
The selection of Kwankwaso is expected to strengthen the NDC’s campaign efforts, particularly in northern Nigeria, as the party seeks to build a broad coalition ahead of the polls.
