The Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President Bola Tinubu, Bayo Onanuga, has called for road vandals to be shot on sight.
Onanuga made the remark while reacting to a video showing vandalism at an ongoing federal road construction project in Ibadan, Oyo State.
He had been responding to footage depicting damage at the Ibadan–Ilesa/Ife federal highway construction site.
In the video seen by Dockaysworld, men who appeared to be contractors and workers on the road project showed the damage caused by the alleged theft, including the cutting and removal of vital parts.
The video was shared with the caption:
“Update on the reconstruction of the Ibadan-Ilesa/Ife federal highway. VANDALS are at it again! They’re cutting and removing the starter bars/Shoulder rods at the construction site. This is pure wickedness. The Government is helping us to build good roads, but some Nigerians are vandalizing them. I’m tired!”
Reacting to the footage, Onanuga wrote:
“Just shoot these unconscionable vandals/thieves at sight. They are the worst specie of citizenships.”
The incident relates to ongoing reconstruction work on the Ibadan–Ilesa/Ife federal highway.
