Gov Yusuf sacks Kano Head of Service

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has relieved the State Head of Service, Abdullahi Musa, of his appointment with immediate effect as part of efforts to reposition the state civil service.

The decision was announced in a statement issued on Tuesday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, who said the move forms part of ongoing reforms aimed at improving efficiency, discipline, and service delivery across government institutions.

Musa had remained in office despite his tenure as a civil servant officially ending in 2024, a situation that generated controversy over the extension of his stay in the role.

Governor Yusuf thanked the outgoing Head of Service for his contributions to the state and wished him success in his future endeavours.

Musa has been instructed to hand over the affairs of the office to the acting Head of Service by Wednesday, March 11, 2026.
