Professor Charles Soludo has been sworn in for a second term as Governor of Anambra State following his reelection victory in 2025.
He took the oath of office on Tuesday at the newly renovated Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka, alongside his deputy, Dr. Onyeka Ibezim.
The ceremony drew top political figures from across Nigeria. Vice President Kashim Shettima represented the Federal Government. Former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan were also in attendance.
Former Commonwealth Secretary-General Emeka Anyaoku, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, and several other governors graced the event.
Soludo won the governorship election in a landslide on November 8th 2025. He polled 422,664 votes, defeating APC’s Nicholas Ukachukwu with 99,445 votes and YPP’s Sir Paul Chukwuma with 37,753 votes.
He swept all 21 local government areas of the state. Out of 2,788,864 registered voters, 598,229 were accredited, with 595,298 votes cast and 11,244 rejected.
