Tinubu Reveals Assignment He Gave Wike

President Bola Tinubu has revealed the task he assigned to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, saying the former Rivers State governor was chosen to transform Abuja into a modern capital city.

The President made the disclosure on Friday during the inauguration of Collector Road CN2, also known as Emmanuel Okanla Boulevard, and other road projects in Katampe District.

Tinubu was represented at the event by Vice President Kashim Shettima.

He said Wike had met expectations since taking charge of the FCT, pointing to the delivery of roads, water projects, judicial infrastructure and urban renewal programmes across Abuja.

According to the President, he selected Wike for the assignment because of his record in public service and confidence in his ability to deliver results.

He noted that several projects abandoned for years had been completed under the minister’s leadership.

“When I gave him the assignment to make Abuja a true capital city, I knew his track records. Wike, you have not disappointed Mr. President,” Tinubu said.

“From transforming abandoned roads into new boulevards, to delivering water projects and judicial quarters, you work day and night. You do not give excuses; you give results. The people of the FCT call you ‘Mr. Project’ for a reason.”

Tinubu described the newly commissioned road as a reflection of the administration’s effort to improve infrastructure and strengthen public confidence in governance.

He added that the installation of solar-powered streetlights on major roads had improved security and boosted economic activities in parts of the city.

The President said the road project was more than a transportation link, noting that it reflected government efforts to improve the lives of residents through practical development projects.

He added that ongoing projects in the FCT showed that the administration’s programmes were producing visible results.
