The Osun State Police Command has summoned Senator Francis Fadahunsi, representing Osun East Senatorial District, over his alleged threat against members of the Accord Party.
According to The Cable the invitation follows the circulation of a video in which Fadahunsi was purportedly heard directing supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to “kill” Accord members encountered during the electoral process.
The comment has sparked outrage on social media, particularly after Nigerian singer Davido, who is the nephew of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, shared the video online.
In his post, Davido attributed the following statement to Fadahunsi: “From now on, whenever you see Accord members, kill them. I authorise you to kill them. They have wives and children too. This is a Federal Government election. On election day, even if they come with voters card, we won’t allow them to vote.”
Fadahunsi, however, has disputed the authenticity and interpretation of the viral video, alleging that it was edited using artificial intelligence. He has also maintained that his comments were misunderstood.
The police summons, comes amid heightened political tensions in Osun ahead of the forthcoming election.
