A house maid identified as Franca Amaha, has been apprehended after she stole about N1.6m in foreign currencies from her employer just six hours after she was hired at Masha area of Surulere, Lagos State.
According to the 26-year-old lady, she had sought such jobs for the express purpose of stealing from employers.
She had sought employment through agencies where she’d used false information and credentials including fake address and guarantor.

She confessed that she’d converted the stolen money to Naira after which, she’d made her hair with some of it and then took what was left to the bank.
Preliminary investigations showed that Amaha was once the housemaid of former Inspector-General of Police, Mike Okiro’s wife.
After stealing the foreign currencies totaling N1.6m, she disappeared and her employer, Mrs. Taiye, petitioned the Inspector- General of Police (IGP), Mr. Mohammed Adamu. The suspect was finally arrested in her friend’s apartment at the Ajah.
