It is illegal for policemen to stop and search you – Edo State Commissioner of Police announces [video]

The Edo state commissioner of police Lawal Tanko Jimeta, has told the public that policemen do not have the right to stop and search people.

He added that it was illegal for them to search phones and asked that victims report police officers who were erring.

He made this known at an event where he warned that officers caught flouting the law would be made to pay and urged people to advise said officers to resign if they broke the law.
