The Benue State Government has announced Thursday, Friday, and Monday as public holidays to allow residents take part in the Easter celebrations.
This decision was made by the state governor, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Alia, who stated that the holidays will give workers and residents time to fully observe the Easter Triduum.
The declaration was made through a statement from the Government House in Makurdi. According to the announcement, government offices, ministries, departments, and agencies across the state will not open during the three-day break.
Governor Alia, a former Catholic priest, made it clear that the Easter season is an important period for Christians.
He said it is a time for people to reflect, spend time with their families, and recharge their minds and bodies.
He also used the opportunity to send Easter greetings to Christians in the state and across the country.
He urged everyone to remain strong in their faith and return from the holiday ready to contribute to the progress of the state.
