A lawmaker representing Karim-Lamido II in the Taraba State House of Assembly, Mike Dio Jen, has stepped down from his position following his new role as Commissioner for the Ministry of Tertiary Institutions.
The resignation came after the state governor, Agbu Kefas, picked him to serve in the executive arm.
The appointment was made public by the Secretary to the State Government, Gibson Kataps, on April 15, 2025.
Following the announcement, Jen confirmed that he would leave the House of Assembly to accept the commissioner position.
He explained that he respects the governor’s decision and is ready to follow the path laid out for him.
Jen said the move came with mixed emotions in his constituency but added that he is prepared to serve the state in his new role.
He noted that his loyalty to Governor Kefas influenced his choice, and he believes in supporting the governor’s efforts to move the state forward.
He also said that giving up his seat in the Assembly would allow someone else to be elected in a by-election.
Jen’s exit from the legislative arm creates a vacancy in Karim-Lamido II, and preparations are expected to begin soon for a new representative to emerge.
